by Ken Ach
The Camp of Champions' Freeride Pro Team will consist of Mike Montgomery, Greg Watts, Casey Groves, Kelly McGarry, Andrew Taylor, Jack Fogelquist with MTB Hall of Fame Member, Brett Tippie in his usual position as the "Director of Good Times".The Camp of Champions had an amazing year last year with COC coaches taking six of the top ten positions in the Crankworx Slopestyle event and winning one of the legs of the Best Trick event. It was awesome to see our crew do so well after a great summer of riding together and becoming great friends. To continue that success and friendship and to hopefully help our riders and the next generation of riders do even better in 2011, The Camp of Champions is stoked to announce the formation of the Camp of Champions Pro Team for 2011. At the same time we are launching our "Got Next Program" with 17 scholarships available for up and coming riders.

The Camp of Champions Got Next Program

photo

Everyone on the COC Freeride Pro Team said how much of an advantage it was training in The Compound on the Big Air Bag and in The Whistler Bike Park with the other coaches. They said it gave them a real edge when it came to contest time. That input made us want to start The Camp of Champions Got Next Program to get more people riding at the highest level.

Got Next - Got Inspiration
A big part of The Camp of Champions, being a coach and pro rider is inspiring people to be better riders and hopefully better people. To ensure that the next generation of riders get the inspiration needed, The Got Next Program has been created to ensure that the next generation of riders coming up, get the same advantages The COC Freeride Pro Team has. Riding with and getting coached by the some of the best riders in the sport, learning how to shoot photos and videos with some of the top photographers. The Got Next Program will give up and coming riders more of the support they need through access to the most progressive coaching that The Camp of Champions provides in The Whistler Bike Park and In The Compound on the Big Air Bag. The Got Next will get riders to where they want to be. On the podium, in the movies and so much more.

Want To Be Part of The Got Next Program?
If you currently ride for a company or shop and want to ride at The Camp of Champions and take advantage of One-on-One coaching by the COC Freeride Pro Team as well as all the other parts of The Camp of Champions that make learning fast, have your team manager or sponsor send us an intro letter verifying your position on their team as well as telling us why you should be the recipient of one of the scholarships. We will have ten $100 scholarships, five $250 scholarships and two $500 scholarships available. Got Next Program Members will receive the scholarships towards the cost of attending The Camp of Champions. This is our way of giving back and helping more riders at a grass roots level progress at the unbelievable rate that's made possible by riding at The Camp of Champions, The Whistler Bike Park and being able to "Send it" into the COC Big Air Bag.

i think having a few top uci racers as coaches could make it a little more appealing to a certain group of riders, seems like a dirt jump/slopsestyle camp to me more than the bike park

Tippie's a great choice for any team. The perfect guy to keep the smiles on faces, keep morale up and make sure no one takes themselves too seriously. Oh, and he can teach a thing or two about shredding as well. That a boy Tippie!
