Camp of Champions Announces Casey Groves Bike Winner
Posted: Sep 2, 2009
For the last month The Camp of Champions has been running a contest on Pinkbike to celebrate the World Premiere of “What’s Next”, Aaron Larocque’s new movie. The Grand Prize was Casey Groves’s bike - a Transition Blindside pimped out by RaceFace, Straitline, Geax and Camp of Champions. The bike is off the hook and to enter to win you had to friend up or add your support to the sponsors of the contest.
The winner has been chosen...
The winner has been chosen...
From the 2500 or so entries the winner is veloparkbiker24. He’s 14 and lives in Boise, Idaho. The bike along with a GoPro camera, so he can send us a video of him ripping on his new bike, and a care package of COC Collabo items like a COC/Dakine Mission pack, COC/Nomis Hoody and other swag is being boxed up and shipped to him where we are sure he will start failing school because he is out riding so much.
Here are some pictures of what used to be Casey's supa dope Transition Blindside. Now it's veloparkbiker24's supa dope Transition Blindside.

Congrats man! enjoy that bike, ride her hard! btw, ill tutor you when you start failing if you let me ride it
The winner is Dallas Pynchon from Boise Idaho. I just heard back from him so we have a winner. And yes... He's stoked!

Wow.. this guy already has an Intense Socom thats pimped out. AND now he gets this?! Oh cmon. I'm sad
actually nvm, i'm not sad, i'm ticked off. Kids 14, already has an expensive bike, now this?! This bike should've went to anyone of the people that bike hard, been biking for a long time, they're bike is getting worn down, and really deserve a new ride.
Well tough luck, Hope your happy kiddo.
Well tough luck, Hope your happy kiddo.
he won it fair and square.. he entered just like everyone else and his name happened to be picked.. dont get ticked off because the kid is lucky..
The coolest part of him winning the bike is he's giving his old bike to his little brother who doesn't even have a bike. So it pays forward. It was a random choice contest. Now if we'd had a most beat bike contest he probably wouldn't have won... But then everyone would have found roached bikes to claim as theirs. Can't win either way so that's why it was a totally random winner. Don't worry we'll do this contest again. Hopefully soon.
Dallas Pynchon, the winner is claiming "Today is the best day of his life..." I'd agree.

yeah and that is the right thing to do.. noone should get mad or ticked off or whatever because he won. of course there will be dissappointed people because it is truly an amazing bike but hey, not everyone can win.. picking a name out of a hat isnt biased to who currently has a nice bike or not. congrats to dallas!
Who cares if he's 14 and already has an awesome Socom; I say congrats to him and that he won fair and square
congrats man! thats a sick bike and you are one lucky kid, but the part about giving your old bike to your little brother is very hard to believe, as if he's 14 his brother is prolly like 12, and there is no way he could fit that socom. either way congrats, and your brother is a lucky kid too! he better not forget that his brother just GAVE him a multi-thousand dollar bike
Yeah he won fairly, but after realising he was 14 years old and had a 6grand bike you could show a bit of comon sense and pick another one (randomly). "he's giving his old bike to his little brother who doesn't even have a bike" you gotta be F kidding me. Come to eastern europe and you'll see lots of great riders riding the shit out of sub 1000€ bikes. *Nothing personal to the kid.
you guys gotta stop complaining, it was random, they cant just decided after randomly picking a winner he doesn't deserve it...then its not random
whatever he does with it is his choice...some kids would just sell there bike, this kid is apparantly giving it to his borther which is pretty good, give him the benefit of the doubt and stop trashing him

I probably would've rode it, because that bike is sick. I just think it's too bad that a 14 year old with a better bike (when new) got it.
By that theory, why would a 16 year old complainer deserve it more? Go ride Gailbraith you cry baby.............he's giving his bike to his brother, comprehend the words there champ!
I guess I'm just angry because I paid for my bike, and I'm in South Dakota right now.
Really, I guess he won it just as fair as anyone else could have.
What's your problem people (not everyone, just some) who cares if he's forteen, fifteen, or twenty? He won Fair and square and that's that. Age doesnt matter, he might be killng it out on the trails way harder than some of you. I say congrats to him and have fun

the other school of thought is that if he already has a Socom he's more likely to be a decent rider and will thus be able to put the Transition to better use...

Dallas deserves this one. He and his brothers have put in hundreds of hours of volunteer time helping build jumps and trails at the bike park in Eagle Idaho (IVCP). Congrats Dallas! There is some good carma at work on this one. Can I ride your bike?
+1. he is a good kid who happens to have a bike already... who cares?
Also i'm waiting for somebody to point out the fact: HE HAS A SOCOM; a VPP hand make in the USA already dialed; he should strip all of the candy off of this bike and ditch the cheaply made in taiwan frame!!!

I'll echo what bradnesp is saying. That kid volunteers all the time. When I've been up at the start of a DH race, he's joked around, shared some line tips, and always helps his teammates. I'd take riding with this kid on whatever bike he is on over riding with any of you clowns that say he didn't deserve to win.
Nice Dallas!
Nice Dallas!
Wow Dallas. You must be super stoked. As said above this guy deserves it. He and his group of friends are out building at the bike park on an almost daily basis. He will definately put this thing to use. Congratulations Dallas can't wait to see this thing in action!
Also don't mind the haters. Should they have given it to a hobo since the hobo doesn't have an Intesnse Socom?
That's lame, I didn't even see the link where one could enter, and I check this website every single day.
Sorry man. We dropped the money on the bike and the ball on exploitation. To quote Elwood Blues "We know all about exploitation, we've been exploited our whole lives" Apparently we don't. Don't worry we'll do it again.
and to quote Jake Blues "It's going to be huge, dynamite!"

Congrats Dallas!!! So what, he already has a dialled bike. Now he has two. Good on him. Giving one to his younger brother is an excellent idea, karma karma karma, it sounds like he has lots due to him.
Congrats again Dallas and have fun with it.

Congrats to you Dallas.....that is awesome and couldn't happen to a better kid! Unless things have changed dramatically in the 3 months since I last saw Dallas, he certainly doesn't have a Socom.......he was riding a very old frame that was given to him (I don't even remember what kind it was) because he had no full suspension bike, and he clapped together whatever components he could find just to make the thing rideable. I don't know where this Socom stuff started, but I guess I'll find out when I get back to Boise this weekend. Anyway, congrats Dallas......looking forward to seeing you out on your new ride at the Eagle Bike Park very soon!
Honestly I get it right about the random selection but maybe companies should start looking to contest bikes out to those in need
Right i get it, advertising, feeding the sport and getting respect from the riding community but what does this show anyone?
It shows that this 14 yearold kid who had a dialed Intense now has another dope bike. Meanwhile I've seen people put kingpins on supercycles and downhill with them for something to ride.
Not to sound peeved off or say i don't like contests like this but maybe make one where people have to prove how they need the bike. I mean if this kids 14 he surely didn't work for that intense, and so I'm sure his little brother could ask mom and dad for a bike without the help of a contest.
Why feed the wealthy when people would cut a finger off elsewhere for a chance at a bike like that.
At the end of the day he won it fair and square and we all had a chance. He won it and nobody can say he shouldn't have. But he doesn't deserve it, he hasn't earned it.
And so i wouldn't congratulate him, he hasn't done anything special to earn it.

hey. u shut your fat mouth. i worked my ass off for that intense. just because u r jealous doesnt mean u get to dis me. i work every day at a bike shop. i help with most of the building of every trail in boise. so how bout u go and please be just cool bout this and congratulate every one who has won something and be glad some one has won something . cause that is really stupid of u to say anything like that. and my bro really deserve this bike too he is always by my side helping me with our biking community so please just be cool and if i see you win something i will be cool about and congratulate you
